Harry Hood

Intro: Dm > Am (x4), F > Em (x4), C > Cmaj7b5!!

 Dm Am F Em C Cmaj7b5

E----5------5------8------7-------0------7---------------------------- B----6------5------10-----8-------1------7---------------------------- G----7------5------10-----9-------0------9---------------------------- D----7------7------10-----9-------2-----10---------------------------- A----5------7------8------7-------3----------------------------------- E-----------5---------------------------------------------------------

This repeats a couple of times; sometimes the band trades small solos. Then:

 Dm Em Am

Harry! Harry! Where do you go when the lights go out? x3

 Dm Em Am D

Harry! Harry! Where do you .... go?

Once the band hits "go?", Trey starts here (over a D chord) :

Most of these get hit on the upstroke

 D A G

 H-O

E-10--12--10---------9--10--9---7--8--7--7--10---------------------- B-10--10--10--------10--10-10---8--8--8--8---8---------------------- G-11--11--11---------9---9--9---7--7--7--7---7---------------------- D-12--12--12--9-11--11--11-11---9--9--9--9---9---------------------- A------------------------------------------------------------------- E-------------------------------------------------------------------

Repeat once

Then:

 G Em F#m G Em F#m A

E--7------7------9-------7------7------9------9--------------------- B--8------8------10------8------8------10-----10-------------------- G--7------9------11------7------9------11-----9--------------------- D--9------9------11------9------7------11-----11-------------------- A------------------------------------------------------------------- E-------------------------------------------------------------------

Repeat both those again, the next time sliding down to:

open A break

A

E-0--

B-0--

G-6--

D-7--

A-0--

E-0--

Trey pulls a little fill like this in here:(Thanks to Steve Munno for this part)

E-----------------------0----------------------------------0---------- B-----------------------0----------------------------------0---------- G-9->-11-11-11-11->-9->-6----9->-11->-9->-13-13->-11->-9---6---------- D-----------------------7----------------------------------0---------- A-7->--9--9-9--9-->-7->-0----7->-9->--7->-11-11->-9-->-7---7---------- E-----------------------0----------------------------------0----------

Then:(middle section)

G > F#m > Em > F#m (Repeat)

G > F#m > Em > F#m > G > F#m > G > G# >

This part is "collectively" in 25/8.

A > D is in 5/4 and E > D > E > D is in 15/8

The timing is as follows:

b = eighth note * = dotted eighth note (held 1.5 times as long as an eighth note)

A D E D E D

b b * * b b * * b b b * * * b b b * * *

Fish plays quarter notes through the first four repeats so the riff starts at a different point in the drum beats each time. When you really see how simple the rhythm pattern is, you will have a better feel on what you're doing.

He slides out of this with : D > C#m > Bm > A (open stringed)

middle section chords

e------------------------|-------------|--------------------|--0--0--0--0-|--0--------0- B--3-----2-----0-----2---|---3-2~--0-2~|--3-2-0-2---3-2-3-4-|--5-10-12-10-|-10--9--7--0- G---4-----2-----0-----2--|---4-2~--0-2~|--4-2-0-2---4-2-4-5-|--6-11-13-11-|-11--9--7--6- D-5~~5--4~~4--2~~2--4~~4-|-5-5-4~2-2-4~|--5-4-2-4---5-4-5-6-|--7-12-14-12-|-12--11-9--7- A------------------------|-------------|--------------------|--0-0-0-0--0-|-----------0- E------------------------|-------------|-3-2-0-2---3-2-3-4--|-------------|-----------0-

repeat open "A" break

D > G > C > Am (hit on Distortion at Am)

Riff fixed by DeadHead.

E|---------------------------|------------------------------------------------------------------|----------
B|---------------------------|*----------------------------------------------------------------*|----------
G|-----------------10-9------|-------------------------10-9--------------------10-9----10-9-----|----------
D|----------10-9----------12-|-9h10h12-9h10h12-9h10h12------12-9h10h12-9h10h12------12------12--|-9-10----9
A|----9-8--------------------|*----------------------------------------------------------------*|----------
E|7--------------------------|------------------------------------------------------------------|----------

Then notes that go:

G-10-9----

D------12-

Are slightly faster then the surrounding notes.

 [no chord]

Thank you Mr. Minor...

A > Bm (Loud!)

Then it moves up to C#m (just up two frets) .. I'm not going to write it all out again though. Easy enough to just move up.

B > C#m

Then up again two frets to D#m.

E A E A E A

Thank You Mr. Minor ... Thank You Mr. Minor ... Thank Your Mr. Minor...

A

Thank You Mr. Hood...

And then of course, comes the jam (who can forget it?) .. It's basically over this progression:

D > A > G (two bars)

After Trey hits the high D note bent up to an E (I'm telling you, that 24th fret is killer -- I recommend YOUR next guitar purchase includes two full octaves on the fingerboard), he does this lick over the progression with lots of distortion to signify the end of the jam:

 D A G

|: :| |: :| |: :|

E-----17--------17-----------17------------------------------------- B---15--------14-----------12--------------------------------------- G-14--------14-----------12----------------------------------------- D------------------------------------------------------------------- A------------------------------------------------------------------- E-------------------------------------------------------------------

and of course:

 D A G

You can feel good, good, good about Hood .. (x3)
