🎼 Getting the Most Out of Setlists
Learn about all the views, features, and tools available for setlists to enhance your rehearsals and performances.
Setlist Views
Each setlist offers multiple views for different purposes:
1. Setlist Review (Default View)
- See all songs organized by sets
- View song details (key, tempo, duration)
- Access quick actions (edit, delete, view song)
- See recording status and audio availability
2. Music Stand View
Full-screen view perfect for performing:
- Clean, distraction-free interface
- Shows gig documents (chords/lyrics) for current song
- Large, readable text
- Navigate between songs easily
- Accessible via shareable link (with token)
Best for: Live performances, when you need lyrics/chords on stage
3. Rehearsal View
Comprehensive view with all resources:
- Shows all gig documents for all songs
- Access to audio links, YouTube videos, MIDI files
- Can view multiple songs at once
- Great for learning new material
Best for: Practice sessions, learning songs, preparing for gigs
4. Gig View
Public shareable view:
- Shareable link (no login required)
- Audio player for the full setlist
- Shows song list and gig documents
- Perfect for sharing with fans or venues
5. Setlist Player
Audio-focused view for listening:
- Plays through all songs in order
- Uses best available audio (splits, recordings, or links)
- Skip songs you don't want to hear
- Promote recordings directly from the player
- View song details and open full song pages
Best for: Listening to your set, reviewing performances, creating playlists
Recording Sets
Record your full setlist performance:
- Go to your setlist page
- Click "Record This Set" in the Recording panel
- Grant microphone permission
- Recording starts immediately
- Navigate freely while recording
- Stop when finished, or recording will automatically stop after 4 hours
- Upload and split into individual songs
4-Hour Recording Limit
Recordings automatically stop after 4 hours to prevent accidentally creating extremely long files. When the 4-hour limit is reached, your recording is automatically saved to your browser's storage (IndexedDB). You can upload it later - even if you return after 24 hours. The server accepts recordings up to 4 hours in length.
Normalizing Recordings
After recording a set, normalize for consistent volume:
- Go to the recording detail page
- Click "Normalize Recording"
- System adjusts audio to -1.3 dB peak
- Creates a new normalized version
- All splits use the normalized version
Splitting Recordings
Break your full set recording into individual songs:
- Go to the split page after recording
- Use the waveform editor to select song segments
- Click and drag on the waveform
- Assign each segment to a song
- Add unlisted songs if you played something not in the setlist
- Click "Process Splits" to create individual files
Setlist Player Features
The Setlist Player offers powerful controls:
Skipping Songs
- Click the skip icon on any song card
- Song is hidden from the player
- Useful for removing songs you don't want to hear
- Can be undone later
Promoting Recordings
- Click the promote icon on a song card
- Makes that recording the default audio link for the song
- Appears as the reference recording on song pages
- Used in future setlist playlists
Viewing Songs
- Click the song icon to open the full song detail page
- Access all song information, links, and gig documents
Viewing Recordings
- Click the recording icon to open the recording detail page
- Access split management, trimming, and other recording features
Configuring Setlist Features
You can customize which content appears in each setlist view by configuring preferences for each song:
How to Access Configuration Options
- Go to your setlist page
- Click on any song card to expand it (or use the expand button)
- In the extended panel, you'll see three configuration dropdowns:
- Gig Documents - Select which gig document appears in Music Stand view
- YouTube Videos - Choose which YouTube video appears in YouTube Playlist
- Audio Files - Select which audio source plays in the Setlist Player
Configuring Music Stand Documents
The Music Stand view shows one gig document per song. To choose which document appears:
- Expand a song card on your setlist
- Click the "Gig Documents" dropdown
- Select your preferred document from the list (shows type, version, and creator)
- The selected document will appear in Music Stand view for that song
- If no preference is set, the most recent document is used
Configuring YouTube Playlist
The YouTube Playlist view creates a playlist of videos for your setlist. To choose which video appears for each song:
- Expand a song card on your setlist
- Click the "YouTube Videos" dropdown
- Select your preferred YouTube video from the list
- The selected video will appear in the YouTube Playlist view
- If no preference is set, the first available YouTube link is used
Configuring Audio Playlist (Setlist Player)
The Setlist Player uses your preferred audio source for each song. To choose which audio plays:
- Expand a song card on your setlist
- Click the "Audio Files" dropdown
- Select your preferred audio source:
- Recording Splits - Individual songs from your setlist recordings
- Song Recordings - Original recordings you've made for that song
- Audio Links - External audio links you've added
- The selected audio will play in the Setlist Player
- If no preference is set, the system uses this priority: Recording Splits → Song Recordings → Audio Links
Configuring Song Duration Totals
The setlist page shows total duration for all songs and per-set breakdowns. To set song durations:
- Go to the song's detail page (click the song title or song icon)
- Click "Edit" to edit the song in your band context
- Find the "Time" field (minutes and seconds)
- Enter the song's duration
- Save your changes
Once durations are set, the setlist page will display:
- Total Duration - Sum of all song durations (excluding "Maybe" set)
- Per-Set Totals - Duration breakdown for each set
- Timed Songs Count - Shows "X/Y timed" indicating how many songs have durations set
Printing Setlists
Generate PDFs for offline use:
- Go to your setlist page
- Click "Print" button
- Choose print options:
- Include/exclude song details
- Include/exclude gig documents
- Page layout options
- Print or save as PDF
Sharing Setlists
Share setlists with band members or fans:
- Gig View - Public shareable link with audio player
- Music Stand View - Shareable link for performance use
- Band Members - Automatically have access to all setlists
